Church Open Day & Tower Tours

St James Church is holding an open day on Monday May 26th from 10am to 4pm.

Returning after 10 years is the chance to take the 118 steep spiral steps up to the top of the bell tower. The cost is £2 for adults, £1 for children of £5 for a family of four. A reasonable level of fitness and good mobility is required – and children will need to be supervised at all times in the tower and on the roof.

The church tower dates to 1480 and was built of pink sandstone. The eight bells you’ll find inside are much newer, the oldest from 1856, five more from 1890 and the latest two from 1907.

The open day will include refreshments, cakes, plants, gifts, displays music and much much more.
