St James’ Church
Church Lane, Gawsworth, SK11 9QY | ///crib.rams.ever
Due to an increasing population in 1430, the former Norman chapel was found to be too small and the lord of the manor instructed the building of a new church, our Church of St James the Great. The limestone walls of the nave were built in 1430 with the pink sandstone chancel and tower constructed in 1480.
The church holds weekly services and offers christenings, weddings and funeral services.
Services
All main services are based on the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Services are held every Sunday at 10am.
Every 1st and 3rd Sunday additional services are held at 8am and at 6pm (summer) and 4pm (winter).
A children and family service is held on the first Sunday of each month at 10am.
