Gawsworth Methodist Church
Congleton Road, Gawsworth, SK11 9QZ | ///twinkling.steadier.woke
There have been Methodists in Gawsworth for 250 years, meeting originally in local homes and farmhouse kitchens. It was, however, on April 26th 1893 that the opening ceremony of the present chapel took place, with tea provided afterwards for 350 people in a nearby marquee.
Other activities at the Church include afternoon teas for the elderly and lonely, a ‘Pastimes’ group with interesting speakers, a Luncheon Club, coffee mornings in conjunction with the village in aid of various charities and regular holiday clubs for children up to the age of eleven years. The 1st Gawsworth Girls Brigade Company, formed more than 50 years ago, meets in the adjoining community hall on Tuesday evenings. Do come along and see what Gawsworth Methodist Church has to offer. You can be assured of a very warm welcome!
